Rather
uncommon sense, since there is seldom a consensus of what is good, better and
best amongst a group. I think that Nielsen while a pioneer in this study would
embrace high tech to replace opinion (they may be doing some of this now). I
find their approach of “less is more” in UI design works, not pretty,
but it works. Eye tracking software like Tobii when coupled with some form of
brain imaging testing will go a long way in taking the art out UI design. Marring
tech with something like the heuristic approach and lots of tracking cookies is
the future. This reminds me of the other Nielsen Company and the infamous
‘BOX” that dictated Ad rates across the country for so many years…There
are a lot of factors that go into when and what someone will give to a cause,
in itself a real science that goes beyond where you put the button.
